AfricaEATS - Cooking Workshop

Explore Africa through Food in YALDA‘s All-new AfricaEATS Cooking Workshop!

The Youth Alliance for Leadership and Development in Africa (YALDA), is a powerful youth-led platform that allows young people from Africa to harness innovative ideas for the welfare of the continent.

YALDA is running a cooking series featuring signature African dishes by top African chefs across the continent. Through this cooking show, YALDA aims to produce cooking tutorials to share traditional recipes and culinary knowledge from the five African regions with people living in Africa and beyond.

Why participate?

The series is also an active fundraiser aiming to raise US$100K for YALDA’s Student Relief Fund and African Young Chef platforms, while promoting and celebrating them at an international level.

Unexplored richness of delicious African Cuisine

Africa boasts a rich medley of indigenous fruits, vegetables, and grains that have over the centuries nourished many across the world and provided a source of vibrant cultural and economic exchanges. The continent offers both indigenous and unique modern ways of cooking delicious and nutritious cuisine.

Yet African food is one of the least known and consumed foods within Africa and the wider world.

Despite the availability of these various cuisines from different parts of Africa, many people on the continent still suffer from immense mulnutrition, hunger and food insecurity.

On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic has also amplified the numerous challenges to food systems and food security in Africa.

In line with the Sustainable Development Goals 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), this project aims to tackle these issues by promoting traditional and indigenous knowledge about food that enrich nutritional practices and develop local and international interests in African food systems for economic development.

Help Market African Cuisine and Create Jobs for African youth!

Every donation made to Africa EATS, provides us with the ability to pay for the platforms for young chefs to share their knowledge on various recipes, to accomplish two goals:

  1. Share indigenous nutritious recipes from across Africa and
  2. Develop a market for African produce which directly creates jobs for youth across Africa
